Community Nurses deal mainly with the housebound and are accessible directly on 01478 613200.
ANTENATAL AND POSTNATAL CARE
Antenatal care is midwife-led and a 24-hour service is provided. The GPs assist throughout the pregnancy term. The midwives, health visitor and GPs all contribute within their own discipline to postnatal care. Local clinics are held at the surgery and consultant clinics at both Portree and Broadford Hospitals. Advice is offered on the choice birthplace.
TRAVEL ADVICE AND VACCINATIONS
Travel advice and vaccinations are available through the practice nurses. Ideally you should consult at least six to eight weeks before your intended departure date. This allows proper planning for any vaccinations you may require and adequate time for these vaccinations to become effective.
NON-NHS MEDICAL SERVICES
Some required services are not available on the NHS, including insurance reports/examinations, private medical certificates and other examinations (eg driving, employment and diving). A fee is charged for these services. When telephoning to make an appointment for your medical, please ensure that you tell the receptionist the nature of your request, as medicals take longer than a normal appointment.
Further information on the above and other services can be obtained by calling the surgery on 01478 612013 (select option 3).
